Hi, I am Yumi Choi-Bose, Esq.

I am the founder and managing partner of Choi-Bose Law, a civil law practice based in the Rumson-Fair Haven area in Monmouth County, New Jersey.

A considerable part of my practice is around effective Land Use representation. My clients can range from a property investor who wants to develop a parcel of land in New Jersey, or a homeowner considering an expansion on their existing home. I believe that effective land use representation involves so much more than just knowing the law.  In my opinion, knowing the law, the statutes, and the cases is just the start. Truly effective land use lawyering is about being able to think like a land use official, possessing a great understanding of the roles of the municipality’s engineering and planning professionals, and then about putting that insider’s perspective to work to achieve my clients’ goals.

I also work quite a bit with small to medium sized businesses addressing their real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, business formation and dissolution – virtually any situation that requires diligence, insight and bulletproof documentation. Most of my business clients are passionate and have an entrepreneurial spirit. I’m like that too. I enjoy taking ownership of their legal problems so they can quit worrying and get back to what matters most to them – their Business.

Prior to starting my private practice, I worked at two well-established legal aid organizations New Jersey as a staff attorney. While there, my work revolved around representing individuals with Family Law issues such as divorce and child support; and Estate Planning work around wills, living wills, advance directives, powers of attorney, and guardianships. Leveraging this background, I continue to serve individuals with such needs.

My work before Law School

I possess an extensive background in international business, having lived and worked in England, Korea, and the States. I started my career in management consulting, and worked for A.T Kearney in their Seoul, Korea and London, England office. Prior to practicing law, I served as a conference interpreter in Seoul, Korea. As an interpreter, I facilitated communications in over 150 seminars and conferences for international organizations and corporations such as General Motors, Samsung, and LG. I have also had the honor of interpreting for many VIPs visiting Korea including Tony Blair, the former prime minister of the United Kingdom and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
